The famed Philadelphia Orchestra brass section is most evenings found at the back of the orchestra. Stepping out of their orchestral roles, the stellar Philadelphia Orchestra Brass Quintet will appear front and center in a program that will span four centuries of music. From the Venetian Renaissance master Giovanni Gabrielli to the ever-popular American composer George Gershwin.
The group is committed to educating the next generation of brass players through community outreach, youth orchestra relationships and faculty positions at some of America’s finest music schools including The Juilliard School, The Curtis Institute of Music, Rutgers University, Bard College, Temple University and NYO USA and Canada are all represented by the performers.
The quintet dates back to the legendary 1967 recordings “A Festival of Carols in Brass” and “The Glorious Sound of Brass”.
